Historic Hotel Offers Excellent Event Venue

The Campbell Hotel and Event Centers at 2636 E. 11th Street has undergone transformation. Though the block-long building looks the same as it has since 1927 (a requirement of the National Register of Historic Places), the inside has undergone a renaissance.
The Campbell used to be a 36-room businessman’s hotel where you could rent a room for two bits a night on Route 66 then take the trolley downtown and sell your wares. During renovation, they found wonderful remnants of those days and times hidden in the walls. They’ve scaled down to 26 rooms, in order for each to have its own bathroom. As part of 2011 Designer Showcase, the hotel offers uniquely themed rooms designed by local decorators. They’ve added all the modern conveniences and then some, and now have a full-service restaurant that provides room service: Maxxwell’s Restaurant.

Their two event centers each has its own style. The 4,000-square-foot Ballroom is elegant with lovely restrooms seating for around 200 people.  The Renaissance Square Event Center adjacent to the Hotel is the same size, but offers a whole different vibe with exposed brick and ductwork, stained concrete floors–a more industrial but a very lovely space.

The Hotel hosts some beautiful weddings/receptions in both centers, as well as corporate parties, class reunions and all kinds of get-togethers.  Their ability to offer the unique complete combination for guests—event, food and guest rooms—means it is convenient for wedding parties with out of town guests.

Senior Living Community Hosts Dog Birthday Party for a Cause

Saint Simeon’s, a premiere senior living community in Tulsa, hosted a “Doggone Birthday Party” for its “Chief Executive Cuddler,” Simone, a Golden Retriever. Simone’s birthday wish was to help the dogs of Tulsa’s homeless population. Simone invited her party guests to bring donations of food for the dogs of the homeless, which will be donated to canines through the Tulsa Animal Welfare Shelter and Iron Gate.

Saint Simeon’s has taken on assisting the dogs of the homeless as a project of interest recently. During Christmas, Simone coordinated a holiday drive, which resulted in over 500 pounds of dog food being raised for the dogs of the homeless. Currently, Saint Simeon’s Residents meet every Monday afternoon to re-bag dog food donations as a volunteer effort to help Tulsa Animal Welfare Shelter with the distribution process to the dogs of the homeless.
