Food and Romance. If you were to ask a number of people what romance was, you would receive a number a various replies. We all have our perception and all of them are correct. Romance defined is a ‘feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love’ or ‘a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life.’ It’s a feeling. I suppose it depends on what stage of life you’re at but for the majority of my years, I’ve associated romance with food. Cooking or baking together, enjoying a good meal, having dessert with a cup of coffee, or just having some sliced fruit with sharp cheese and a good bottle of wine are some examples that come to mind. While you’re relaxing and enjoying your food, you’re spending time together, laughing, talking, getting to know each other a little better or sharing stories. Since Valentines’s Day is in February it lends itself to talk about romance but Valentine’s Day is also the second busiest night of the year for res­taur­ants.
