NEWSIES! First Time in Tulsa!
Disney Theatrical Productions and Celebrity Attractions brings the highly anticipated national Broadway tour of Disney’s NEWSIES to Tulsa. The Tony® Award-winning production premieres at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center for a limited engagement of eight performances only September 13-18.
Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.
NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.

The Great Catsby & The Barking Twenties
Plan now to attend Fur Ball 2016 benefiting Oklahoma Alliance for Animals on November 5th at the Greenwood Cultural Center. Event Chairs Kathleen and Garrett Thomas are taking you back in time for a night of fun. The Fur Ball is OAA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Oklahoma Alliance for Animals is a Tulsa based non-profit collaborative organization established in 2004. Their primary purpose is to bring together the people and resources needed to overcome pet homelessness, abuse and neglect. Their vision? To transform Oklahoma communities into places where all animals are treated humanely and no healthy, adoptable dog or cat is destroyed merely because it does not have a home. They have created a collaborative organization to facilitate animal rescue organizations, veterinarians, municipal animal shelters, law enforcement and community members to all work together to achieve common goals. Programs include Adopt a Little Oakie, Unchain Oklahoma, Fix OK, Fighting Cruelty and Pawsitively Pets. Consider being a sponsor for this great cause. OAA is the organization that agrees to pay for emergency care when an animal is brought into the Animal Emergency Center by a good samaritan or provides a dog house and hay for a family that may be struggling.
