Holland Hall’s Grant Gebetsberger Named 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholar

Holland Hall recent graduate Grant Gebetsberger ’17 was named a 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholar. Inclusion in this program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars selects scholars annually based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Grant is one of 161 Scholars selected out of more than 3.5 million high school graduates and 5,100 qualified candidates. He represented Holland Hall and Oklahoma at the Presidential Scholar Medallion ceremony in Washington D.C. on June 18, 2017.

Single Dog Seeking Presents First Annual Pawparazzi Gala

“People healing dogs, dogs healing people.” That’s the mission statement for the Tulsa based, nonprofit dog rescue, Single Dog Seeking. Since starting in June 2016 this foster based rescue has saved over 150 Oklahoma death row dogs. The Founder, Kylar Kemp, and her amazing team of volunteers and fosters are dedicated to saving and rehabilitating as many forgotten, abandoned, and unloved dogs as possible. On a mission to continue their work, Single Dog Seeking is hosting its First Annual Pawparazzi Gala on August 12th, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Post Oak Lodge. The evening will entail signature drinks, a five-course meal, a wide assortment of silent auction items along with the best live auction items around. 100% of the money raised at The Pawparazzi Gala will be used to save even more Oklahoma death row dogs well into the future. Grads Named to TU Law Hall of Fame

The University of Tulsa College of Law and Dean Lyn Entzeroth inducted three new members to the TU College of Law Hall of Fame at the Law Alumni Gala, May 13, 2017. Those honored included Allen Smallwood, JD ’74, Rachel Blue, JD ’88, and the Honorable Dana Kuehn, JD ’96.

Smallwood, JD ’74, with Allen Smallwood Attorney at Law, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Law Award. Blue, a shareholder and practice group leader at McAfee & Taft, was awarded with the W. Thomas Coffman Award for Community Service. Kuehn, Tulsa County associate district judge, was awarded the W. Thomas Coffman Award for Community Service.

The Junior League of Tulsa Receives $10,000 Community Impact Award at National Conference

The Junior League of Tulsa (JLT) was one of two recipients of the $10,000 Community Impact Award at the 2017 Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI) Annual Conference. The award, funded by Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures, recognizes chapters/projects that concretely illustrate the Junior League tradition of achieving significant community impact through collaboration. The JLT was awarded for their partnership with Resonance Center for Women in which JLT volunteers have mentored over 120 non-violent female offenders.
