For many of us, August is a significant turning point in the calendar year. The freedom of summer is drawing to a close and school bells will be ringing very soon.
While the relaxed days of sipping cool beverages poolside may be numbered, this month brings a sense of renewal. New routines, new clothes and new school supplies often come to mind in August. And, because we dedicated previous issues to both the male and female Movers and Shakers of our community earlier this year, it would only be right to celebrate some of Tulsa’s outstanding youth this month.
It’s also the time of year for social media to light-up with ‘back to school’ photos from adoring moms and dads. If you still have youngsters at home, you may be interested in reading our story about how to style your own family portrait. It is written by a professional photographer and even includes ideas for how to include extended family members – our beloved pets.
There’s no doubt we have some serious animal lovers in Tulsa. Did you know that we have some very well-known dogs and cats in Tulsa who serve the community? Meet Mavis Pearl, CASHnip Kitty and K9 Riggs in our Paw Patrol feature about how these animals and their owners are making a difference.
Welcome to the August issue of Tulsa Lifestyle. We’re glad you’re here and hope you enjoy these stories in this warm, transitional month as we anticipate fall.
