Acai bowls and smoothies make the scene in South Tulsa
With all the great holiday parties coming up at the end of the year, it’s good to have healthy options to offer your guests or to help you maintain the fantastic shape you’ve earned over the summer. A new restaurant called ah-Sigh-e will help you do both.
Located on South Memorial in Bixby, ah-Sigh-e is the love child of Trena and Jason McGill, recent transplants from Naples, Florida. The name “ah-Sigh-e” is a unique take on the key ingredient in the establishment’s acai bowls and smoothies. The acai berry is an inch–long, reddish–purple fruit and comes from the acai palm tree native to Central and South America. Some studies show that acai fruit pulp is richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries or blueberries.
“One of our favorite meals while living in Naples was the acai bowl,” said Jason. “We couldn’t find any restaurants serving anything close to what we were used to in Florida, so we decided to start our own restaurant.” Soon, the enterprising family opened at 123rd and Memorial. “We like to say that we make eating healthy more of a treat than a chore,” said Jason. Their acai blends and smoothies are dairy and refined sugar-free, and sweetened with raw, local honey.
A favorite bowl is the Crazy for Cacao including acai, cacao powder and nibs, almond milk, cherries, mangos, blueberries, strawberries, granola and local honey. Yum.
The restaurant is cute, breezy and beachy. If you’re planning a party, ah-Sigh-e caters. Home and business delivery is offered through DoorDash and you can order from their website at ahsighe.com. Through December 2019, Jason is offering first timers a free medium bowl or smoothie – something worth checking out. Just text FREEBOWL to 59925.
